About a year earlier the last departure from Aberdare during the week, which left at 1815, became a tendered journey operated by Stagecoach Red & White from Aberdare depot.
On this occasion the vehicle used was not something one would contemplate travelling on all the way to Porthcawl but of course few did and there weren't that many passengers at all. That can be seen from the photograph and also would be the reason for it becoming a tendered journey.
It was a long trip - this bus would not get back to Aberdare until 2218.
