Before the opening of the bus stands on Wallshaw Place buses used this rather cramped arrangement almost at the bridge, with barriers separating the queues for the three groups of services (the E to Mossley not being busy enough to warrant its own).

308, which was the last of the batch to be withdrawn on 2nd June 1965, will presumably quickly turn right up Lees Road once it sets off.
