Subject: English Electric demonstrator CK 3898
Chassis: Leyland Lion LSC1 modified
Body: English Electric B31C?
Location: Ashton, Mossley Road
Date: 1927

Seen as rebuilt to centre-entrance and on Mossley Road, outside the depot, whilst on hire to Ashton-under-Lyne Corporation (note the seating capacity may be 32). The bus also carries a poster inside for a new Ashton to Urmston bus service which commenced on 20-Jan-1928, allowing this photograph to be dated to within a few weeks. That service, after several mutations, became the legendary 6 service from Manchester to Glossop, worked by four operators until the formation of SELNEC.

CK 3898 worked for Ashton for six months before running at Maidstone from 25-Jul-1928.
