Subject: Ashton C. T. 50 (TD 2362)
Chassis: Railless LFT30
Body: Short B36C
Location: Ashton, Mossley Road
Date: 1928

50 was the first of eight Railless trolleybuses which were Ashton's first and started the service to Oldham, soon cut back to Hathershaw, on which they spent their whole life.

Most of the batch was converted to B34R layout featuring an Edinburgh-style entrance as seen here on Ashton's LT1 Lions of 1929. In the case of 50 this was done in 1933 and it received pneumatic tyres at the same time. It was withdrawn when the Hathershaw trolleybus route was abandoned on 18th February 1939.

This photograph can be dated by a poster inside advertising the Ashton to Urmston express bus service which started on 30-Jan-1928 and was extended to Stalybridge on 29-Aug-1928.
