Special efforts were made to celebrate the Golden Jubilee, after all the system was at its peak although even then doubt was being cast over its long-term future.

'Regen' 603 was repainted into a version of the 1911 livery. Karrier 687 was restored to its original ultramarine livery as the oldest trolleybus still with its (albeit rebuilt) original body, in fact the only survivor of the batch.

Both trolleybuses ran over the original route (Laisterdyke to Dudley Hill) on the 50th anniversary of its official opening with an invited party of civic dignitaries. Four days later, the 50th anniversary of the public service commencing was celebrated with a tour round much of the system. For this they were accompanied by 'Darlington' 787, representing what was at the time Bradford's most modern trolleybus.
