HAE 17 was new as Bristol Tramways C2706, working in the Bristol City fleet and featuring the two-door body configuration popular with that operator for this kind of work. Six of the batch ran the whole of their relatively short lives in Bristol in this form, three of which were sold to Pontypridd. HAE 17 became Pontypridd 65.
