Subject: Jones, Flint AJA 139B Location: Mumps, Oldham Date: 1970s
One of the more unusual vehicles to help out at Oldham Wakes was this Stachans-bodied Bedford VAL belonging to Jones of Flint. It was new as 139 to North Western, who had a depot in Oldham, but this batch of vehicles was built to operate services through the Dunham Massey canal bridge which had very limited clearance, hence the unusual roof contour. They spent their working life with North Western at Altrincham depot.
On this occasion it is providing extra capacity for Yelloway on their Llandudno service and will be at the beginning of Oldham Wakes.
