Cardiff 231 (TG 379) Custom House Bridge R Marshall

Subject: Cardiff C. T. 231 (TG 379)
Chassis: English Electric SD6WTB
Body: English Electric B32C
Location: Cardiff, Custom House Bridge
Date: c.1948

Pontypridd 1 after sale to Cardiff in 1947. It was one of two of the type to receive Cardiff crimson and cream livery.

These trolleybuses were bought to release the motor buses which had replaced the trams the previous year, the track being deemed unfit for continued operation.

231 is at the City terminus of the route along Bute Street and is on a bridge over the Glamorganshire Canal. This waterway was filled in a few years later making the location look very different now. The Western Mail building has been demolished but those either side still remain and are on St. Mary Street.
