At the same location but waiting to work a journey going out via Lees is Oldham 410, one of five Crossley-bodied Leyland PD2s. These were attractive buses and pleasant to ride on as the deep windows gave very good visibility. However the body design (which was actually from Park Royal) proved particularly susceptible to corrosion and these buses had very short lives with only about ten years active service. 409 was the only one to survive and it was the expense of overhauling that bus that led to the decision to cease work on the others. This was particularly undignified for this bus, 410, as work had already started and the stripped-down body shell languished at the back of the garage (along with the more complete other members of the batch) for a couple of years before they were finally disposed of.
