Subject: Bradford C. T. 739 (DKY 739)
Chassis: Karrier W
Body: East Lancs H37/29F
Location: Bradford, Thornton Road
Date: 15-Aug-1965

739 is working a 'short' on the Clayton service to Pasture Lane. These shorts ran most of the time the service was operating, not just in peak hours. This had changed in the evening on Mondays to Fridays when the supplementary service only ran to Lidget Green. However, the loop there had been removed by the time of this photograph.

The backdrop here has changed from earlier photographs due to the demolition of the New Inn. This has opened up a view towards Manchester Road where the Odeon cinema can be seen. This closed in 1969 and the name was transferred shortly afterwards to the Gaumont (formerly New Victoria) on Thornton Road, next to the city loading point for Thornton trolleybuses.
