Taff-Ely 8 (UTG 313G) and others Cardiff Sloper Road depot Peter Smith

Subject: Taff-Ely BC 8 (UTG 313G)
Chassis: AEC Regent V 2MD3RA
Body: Willowbrook H34/26F
Location: Cardiff, Sloper Road garage
Date: unknown

AEC Regent V 8 is parked along with a Metro-Cammell and a Weymann-bodied example (the latter readily identified by the nearside fuel filler). They are stabled at Cardiff’s garage during the Military Tattoo.

Keeping them company is Cardiff 514. This started with Newcastle in 1964 as their 41. It was an Alexander-bodied Atlantean and ownership transferred respectively to Tyneside PTE in 1969 and Tyne & Wear PTE in 1974, latterly being numbered 141. It came to Cardiff in 1977, originally on loan, but was soon purchased. It ran at first in Tyne and Wear yellow and white.
