This vehicle was originally registered 1 DBC and was new to Straw of Leicester. It was an AEC Reliance 2U3RA with a Harrington Cavalier C49F body and moved to Leigh, Middleton in 1971 before being bought by Woodward in about 1972, which is probably when it was re-registered.
This section of Waterloo Street was very narrow and had been one way for many years. The bus routes that reached Glodwick via Waterloo Street (the old G and N buses) used to go down Southgate Street alongside the library and join Waterloo Street lower down.
