Subject: Durban Corporation Transport 39 Chassis: AEC 664T Body: English Electric H70D Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr Works Date: 1939
The lower saloon showing the long bench seats over the bogie characteristic of six-wheel double-deckers. The use of the narrower bogie in the wide body means that these seats have had to be moved further inwards - note the sheld behind them. This reduces the utility of the handrail and grab handles provided in that area, as there is less floor space than there could be for standing passengers.
