Subject: London Transport 1670 (FXH 670)
Chassis: AEC/English Electric chassisless
Body: English Electric H40/28R
Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr Works
Date: 1939

In this view the radically different construction from the normal 'ladder' chassis style is clearly evident. The somewhat diagonal members at each side would have helped to stiffen the underframe laterally.

The seats are mounted on brackets rivetted to the stress panels instead of being on a normal seat rail. This would save weight but preclude an easy change of layout (although in practice that seldom happened).
