I'm not clear if this bus ever carried a fleet number when in use as a towing vehicle and its history in this guise seems to be poorly-documented. I have seen a reference to it being allocated (E)1080 but no evidence it carried that number.
It was one of two of the batch to remain in service as buses until 1984 and then spent some time in store before conversion to a towing vehicle as seen here.
It would seem to be a bit of a Bridgend depot 'pet', having been treated to coach-type wheel trims and featuring a red band with blue moulding, not seen on the other two similar conversions.
