An even more significant diversion of the 343 occurred when Stamford Road in Mossley was being rebuilt to rectify instability, severing the connection for buses between bottom and top Mossley. The 343 and several other services had to make the long detour round via Greenfield station, adding about four miles to the route! Metrobus 30310 climbs the hill at Greenfield station in the course of this diversion.
