27598 is closer in this view, taken passing the Britannia Inn. This started as a beerhouse called the Musicians Arms and then the New Inn before the present name was adopted when it was bought by the owner of Britannia Mill, just visible on the left.

The bus was new to Go North-East as their 4977 and passed to Bluebird of Middleton, with whom it carried the cherished mark 360 BLU. It ran with this mark in Stagecoach livery for a while but then reverted to its original registration number.
