Few photographs have given me as much pleasure as this one when I first looked at it. The combination of subject matter and technical quality makes it irresistible. It captures beautifully a spring evening in Delph, with the peace only slightly troubled by the harmonious sound of this Alexander-bodied Bristol RE 333 singing its way through the village. These vehicles were an attractive addition to the North Western fleet, but did not stay in the area very long. However, some years later a couple were transferred to Tameside garage and appeared regularly on the 353 here, although by then of course in orange.
