Subject: National Welsh U2468 (RTG 307F) Chassis: Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/12 Body: Marshall B45F Location: Llangwm, The Bridge Inn (B4235) Date: 29–Jun-1979
U2468 has travelled some distance from its original depot and is working from the former Western Welsh depot at Cross Keys on the long and fairly rural 119 service from Chepstow to Blackwood. At the time there were seven through journeys a day, one of which involved changing buses in Usk and the trip took all but two hours. The service was shortened under the MAP scheme starting from 26-Oct-1980 and then only ran to Pontypool.
The history of the service is quite complicated, but in summary it was originally a Red & White service operated from Blackwood and Chepstow depots. For a while the service was split at Usk but through running later resumed. As part of the Monmouthshire co-ordination scheme in 1967 Blackwood Red & White depot closed and the working from the west was then done by Western Welsh from Cross Keys.
