Crosville CRG575 heads north back to Liverpool and is caught passing Merthyr 140 on its way to Perthygleision which, to make life simpler(!) for strangers was referred to as Aberfanfach in the timetable.

The buses are passing the Hoover factory, opened in Oct-1948 and set to become a major employer in the area with an extension opened in 1973 seeing employment there top the 5,000 mark. However, things subsequently declined and the factory finally closed in May-2009.

Although it probably did not affect the final outcome for the factory, the company was weakened by a disastrous free flights promotion in 1992 which offered flights costing more than the goods being offered. This was understandably popular and its unsustainable nature led to court cases with the cost of damages as well as reputational damage.
