An open-top double-deck tram was becoming something of an anachronism by 1921 when three trams like this (20-22) were delivered, but neighbour Blackburn also stuck with open-top trams until very late (although theirs were much older).

This batch of trams had a relatively short life, being withdrawn in 1940.
