40878 was one of a number of Darts new to Essex Buses that were transferred to the various West Yorkshire fleets and then moved in their last year to Dukinfield. The building it is passing used to be The George, once Mossley's premier hotel. The original George here was built in 1826 but this building dates from 1866 when Stamford Street was widened. Unsurprisingly, the landowner here was Lord Stamford.
