5304, seen at the bottom of Balfour Street, had just had its annual PSV exam and been spruced up a bit in June 1970 and this photograph was taken soon after. In the process it received its SELNEC number and also lost its first style Oldham grille which was of the same pattern but did not protrude slightly as this one does. It was the last Oldham bus to receive this style of grille - 453, the last without the Oldham grille, retained its BMMO front until it was withdrawn the following month.

5304 also seems to have retained, uniquely, just a single one of the half-drop ventilators upstairs as originally fitted to these buses and which proved so troublesome, eventually being replaced by sliding ventilators.
