The passenger is no doubt boarding for Mossley although the service normally started in George Street. The presence of a 408 behind and the amount of traffic on Greaves Street imply that this view may have been taken when services were diverted temporarily for some unknown reason.
After the formation of SELNEC the bulk of operation of this service transferred from Stalybridge to Oldham which made for more efficient operation.
