Behind the boarding Oldham's new Town Square bus station was taking shape and in the meantime 1354, one of the unique pair of Mercedes O.305s, had to use a bus stop on the outside. The facade of the Town Hall makes a prominent backdrop, although this was disused by then and had been looking for a proper use until recently. The date is 11th July 1980 and the 416 was to cease to exist as a bus route only a few days later. Despite the fact that the service ran as such for seven years, this is one of the very few photos in this collection of a bus carrying that service number.
