Subject: National Welsh U164 (DAX 601C) Chassis: Bristol MW6G Body: ECW B45F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: Spring 1979
A second view of U164, having taken on board the passengers for its working to Talbot Green. Despite the '64' in the fleet number this bus was new in 1965. For some reason the first three of the batch had 1964 numbers whilst the rest had 1965 ones, starting at U165. As a consequence most of the batch failed to have matching fleet and registration numbers.
Prominent in the background, mainly due to its livery, is Leyland Titan demonstrator FHG 592S which was on hire to Cardiff for evaluation.
U164 was withdrawn later that year, possibly at the end of its loan to Cardiff depot.
