The classic Alexander Y-type body was a familiar sight in this area as North Western in particular used it as their standard coach body. However, they always had panoramic windows and the bus version with shorter windows was an unusual sight in the locality. Most examples were bought by the Scottish Bus Group, this particular vehicle being new to Alexander Midland as their MPE 316 and seen on 7th June 1996.
