About the only time any benefit came out of the competition between Blue Bus and Yorkshire Rider was on weekday afternoons when the extra buses provided additional capacity for schoolchildren leaving Saddleworth school. GMPTE may have been able to save a tendered journey but the competition was too short-lived for that. Rival buses are seen in Uppermill on 4th July 1996, both getting a significant load.
