Subject: Red & White U158 (TWO 65) Chassis: Bristol MW6G Body: ECW B45F Location: Cardiff, Penarth Road depot Date: c.1975
This must have been a period of significant vehicle shortage in the Western Welsh fleet as two of the vehicles visible are on hire from other associated fleets.
In the foregorund is MW6G U158, the first of this batch of twenty-one with the memorable TWO registrations and the earlier style of body without the waistrail and the more upright rear end. The blinds show that it has been working the limited stop service to Ynysybwl - in theory a place it would have visited in the past as it spent quite a few years at Aberdare depot but was later based at Monmouth.
In the background TCK 716 was numbered UC1463 but until a few months before it had been UC1463J as it was in the fleet of Jones, Aberbeeg. New as Ribble 716 it came to Jones in 1973 and was on hire to Western Welsh from Nov-1974 to Jun-1975, following which it was withdrawn. It had been providing unusual transport on the service to Creigiau.
