The Turberville service of Brewer’s only saw a handful of journeys a day. Here former Taff-Ely Reliance 97 is working through from Caerau.
It has just passed under the high embankment which carried the former Port Talbot railway across the valley. This line closed from 31st August 1964 but was leased to the National Coal Board. Steam locos could be seen on the embankment well into the 1970s, long after they had disappeared from main line work in the UK.
