This service had nothing to do with Rhondda Transport or Porth depot but is closely-aligned with other services operated and helps complete the story of buses services on the roads between the extremities of the route.

It has a very simple history. It was introduced by Western Welsh by 1973 at the same time as the Pontypridd to Cardiff workings (on the 331 service) were withdrawn and was intended to replace some of the lost capacity whilst giving Ynysybwl a better link to Cardiff. Vehicles were provided by Penarth Road depot in Cardiff. It was a limited stop service but from 1st December 1975 it was found necessary to add some stops and also cease running a couple of poorly-patronised early evening journeys. The last journeys ran on 3rd May 1980, the service being withdrawn as part of the Cynon-Dare MAP scheme changes. By this time it was worked by National Welsh.
