Pontypridd bought four of these smart Roe-bodied Reliances of which 83 was the first. Oddly, the first pair are recorded as air-braked but the later pair (85 and 86) were vacuum-braked. Hopper ventilators were unusual when this was built in 1961. These were the first front-entrance buses bought new since some small Thornycrofts in 1934.
