Subject: North Western 915 (VDB 915)
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3/3RT
Body: Alexander DP49F
Location: Newcastle, Northumberland Street
Date: 17-Apr-1965

Turning from the now-pedestrianised Northumberland Street into New Bridge Street West with the famous Fenwick store in the background, 915 is only working as far as Leeds and will presumably make its way back home another day.

915 and 916 of this batch of ten had a forced air ventilation system instead of sliding ventilators and thus feature the scoops at each side of the destination display.

915 was hired by Ensign to Southend for some time and looked very smart in Southend’s blue and cream livery.

To the left is Newcastle 141, an AEC Regent V with a Park Royal body featuring only front ventilators, a Newcastle practice at the time it was built. This was withdrawn in 1970 soon after the formation of Tyneside PTE and became training bus 984.
