Subject: Rennie, Dunfermline RUH 816M Chassis: Leyland National 1051/1R Body: Leyland National B41F Location: Dunfermline bus station Date: c.Aug-1987
16 had seemingly been a troublesome vehicle in Pontypridd and apparently spent several years off the road awaiting (and also becoming a source of) spares. Its time with Rennie's was no more successful as it only ran for them for a few months before being withdrawn. Sister vehicle 17 also went to Rennie's and was only ever used for spares - significantly this pair are recorded as having ZF gearboxes which may be a factor in their chequered histories.
The service from Dunfermline to Ballingry would have been an obvious target at deregulation. In the 1960s it was Alexander (Fife) service 314 and took around fifty minutes from end-to-end with a ten minute peak headway only reducing to fifteen in the evening. It served no less than three towns with Fife garages, Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly.
