5170 has just left the garage to work, I presume, an evening peak extra on the 184 on 22nd July 1980. The brick building behind is the former tram shed, later used as the bus workshops but since demolished. Note the sign for the Pennine Lounge - this room being part of the erstwhile Oldham Passenger Transport Social Club. This remained a busy venue for many years but closed on 28th February 2009.
