Subject: Rhondda 436 (VTX 436)
Chassis: AEC Regent V LD3RA
Body: Weymann H37/33F
Location: Porthcawl, The Square
Date: 6-Aug-1963

436 stopped in front of the Knight's Arms in Porthcawl, having worked from Treorchy. This photograph was taken on a Tuesday, showing that in high summer there was sufficent demand for day trips to warrant a large double-decker even during the week. Contemporary timetables show that in high summer the 160 (and other Porthcawl services) left from Eastern Promenade after 1630hrs, presumably as a form of crowd management.

Compared with earlier photographs of 436, the front advert has changed in style, if not advertiser.

The side illuminated advert for Littlewoods shows over £500,000 every week. What is odd is that an earlier photo of the bus show an advert for a £600,000 plus treble chance pool.
