Subject: Rhondda 428 (VTX 428)
Chassis: AEC Regent V LD3RA
Body: Weymann H37/33F
Location: Cardiff, Westgate Street
Date: mid-1960s

The services from Treorchy and Ystrad entered Cardiff along Cowbridge Road East and Westgate Street but left using Wood Street, Clare Street and Lower Cathedral Road.

428 has just turned off Castle Street at the Angel Hotel and is heading down Westgate Street. On the right is the Animal Wall of Cardiff Castle, designed by architect William Burges for the 3rd Marquess of Bute. Completed in 1892 it was extended and realigned after the First World War when Castle Street was widened and aligned with the new Cardiff Bridge just visible in the background.
