64 passes the Rhondda Heritage Park bound for Cardiff. The building behind was the winding house for the Trefor shaft of Lewis Merthyr Colliery. The datestone shows 1878 but sinking of the shaft wasn't completed until 1883. The stone further up is also ambiguous as there are several possibilities as to what the initials stand for. I suspect it is meant to indicate Lewis Merthyr Consolidated, part of the full name (Lewis Merthyr Consolidated Collieries Ltd.) of the later company that operated this and other pits very successfully.
These anomalies, and the fact that it wasn't even called Lewis Merthyr Colliery in 1878, make me believe these stones are a later addition.
In the grounds of the heritage centre can be seen Rhondda Transport Regent 457, shown on the same occasion in the gallery on that batch.
