Subject: Rhondda Buses 87 (L87 CWO)
Chassis: Dennis Dart 9SDL3024
Body: Wright Handy-bus B35F
Location: Blaencwm, Michael's Road
Date: 15–Sep-1997

As this view makes clear, 87's advert livery wasn't quite an all-over one as the front of the bus retained fleet livery, by this time the later version with more cream.

The bus stop flag shows the offical name of the stop to be "New Terminus", which of course it was then. The apparently-intensive bus service here indicated by the various service numbers on the flag needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. The X10, after a brief initial flurry was down to two journeys a day. The 121 was a minibus service running three times a day but not, according to any of the timetables I have, even serving Blaencwm. The 141 was the once-daily bus to East Glamorgan Hospital, at this time worked by Shamrock.

Whilst normally associated with journeys from Blaenrhondda, the 130 route number actually indicated services via Penygraig and just a handful started here in the early morning and also in the evening.

The RL1 was one of several Mid-Glamorgan sponsored rail link services and connected with the train at Treherbert.
