When looking down High Street now, it is hard to imagine that it was the main road into and out of the Rhondda Valleys, fortunately there was a lot less traffic then.
Traffic on High Street was relieved when the new Sardis Road bridge was opened c.1967 but as can be seen on the left of this view, even further work was deemed necessary to deal with the traffic and the dual carriageway here was close to completion. 65 negotiates these works.
