Subject: Western Welsh 1171 (MUH 171) Chassis: Leyland Tiger Cub PSUC1/1 Body: Weymann B44F Location: Cardiff bus station Date: c.Oct-1968
1171 leaves Cardiff bus station with just the crew on board. It is on a short working to Upper Boat not shown in the timetable and I would expect it to go to the North Bus Station at Treforest Trading Estate.
The later style of fleet name has been applied and the Cardiff depot allocation diamond can be seen above the fleet number. This bus was one of the last of the 1956 intake of vehicles to enter service, actually in February 1957. This was a massive intake of no less than 125 vehicles, approximately one fifth of the fleet, on top of which no less than 65 buses joined the fleet with the takeover of Forse, Cardiff and Green's of Haverfordwest. By way of a respite, the 1957 intake was one bus!
