The original Metrolink route crossing the road junction here had been closed after service on the previous Friday and work is going on to open the new route through Oldham town centre, along with which went the opening of the new interchange at Mumps.

33679 has left Oldham by the normal route at the time along Prince Street and will turn right at Cross Street to reach Lees Road. Just over a week later services would be diverted to the interchange and leave on the road to the right.
