Subject: Dewsbury and Ossett Tramways Maker: English Electric, Preston Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr factory Date new: 1921
The small Dewsbury and Ossett Tramways fleet took almost ten years to fit with top covers. The first two were made by UEC in 1915 but by the time the second pair were built in 1921 (of which this is one), UEC had become English Electric. The final pair was supplied in 1925.
All were mounted on open-top cars built by Brush. The six supplied by UEC and English Electric joined four supplied by Mexborough and Swinton (who carried out overhaul work on Dewsbury and Ossett trams). These were of identical design and it has not proved possible to determine which cover was fitted to which tram.
