Bradford normally built their own trams but immediately after the end of the Great War it became apparent that the number of trams needed was greater than their capacity to build. Hence forty-six trams were bought from English Electric at Preston between 1919 and 1921.

The first fourteen were numbered 233-246 and new in 1919. They featured the high upper deck vestibule panels favoured by Bradford as shown here. When later fitted with upholstered seats the lower deck capacity was reduced to 19.

237 was sold to Sheffield on withdrawal in 1942, in which fleet it became 329. Bradford 251, which became Sheffield 330, was converted to a rail grinder in 1951 and fortunately still survives in that form in preservation at Crich.
