Subject: South Shields C. T. 237 (KW 6658)
Chassis: English Electric type E11
Body: English Electric H30/26R
Location: unknown
Date: c.1946

Whilst ten of this type of trolleybus were sold to Newcastle in 1942, this was the solitary 'Paddler' which was sold to nearby South Shields, along with a single 'Trippler' and a former English Electric demonstrator that had also joined the Bradford fleet.

237 had originally been 582 in the Bradford fleet and was sold to South Shields in 1945. Obviously only purchased as an interim measure, it was withdrawn the following year. The other two ex-Bradford trolleybuses only lasted another year.

This would appear to be a scrapyard view as South Shields didn't have anything similar to what looks like a Leyland Titan TD1 in the right background, the closest being their first double-deck motorbus which was a 1931 Daimler CH6 bought from Manchester Corporation in 1937.
