Subject: National Welsh HR1819 (VHB 679S) Chassis: Bristol VRT/SL3/501 Body: ECW H43/31F Location: Cwmbran bus station Date: mid-1980s
HR1819 seems to have been quite camera-shy in its time with National Welsh and this picture shows it working away from home in Cwmbran, although it still carries the New Rhondda local identification. Although it ran only a very short time for Rhondda Buses, this bus remarkably remained in service until 2018, having been with its final owner for no less than twenty-four years. Since 1993 it carried the registration MIW 2422.
This photograph allows comparison of the low height and normal height bodies fitted to National Welsh VRTs, as the one behind is of the lower 4.12m high version whilst HR1819 is 4.21m high. The differences are quite subtle but most visible in the white band above the windscreen which is not present on the lower height version behind.
