Subject: Rhondda Buses 435 (NWO 469R) Chassis: Leyland National 11351A/1R Body: Leyland National DP48F Location: Maerdy, A4233 Date: c.Aug-1992
435 has come over the top from Aberdare in the early stages of its long run to Porthcawl and is descending into Maerdy.
The background appears to be one which one would expect to have changed little, but that is not the case. In recent years a wind farm has appeared on the distant hills but in addition, on the extreme left where the sidings for Maerdy Colliery used to be, there is now the factory of Avon Engineered Rubber Ltd. This provides much-needed employment in the area although it has not always been a smooth ride.
