JLJ19831

Subject: National Welsh ND1776 (NWO 462R)
Chassis: Leyland National 11351A/1R
Body: Leyland National DP48F
Location: Llanellen Bridge
Date: 30-Jan-1982

ND1776 is working the 120 service which had been introduced as part of the Gwent Vales MAP scheme from 26-Oct-1980. At this time it ran from Abergavenny to Newport but would later run through Abergavenny to Hereford.

This bridge was designed by John Upton of Gloucester in 1821 and has three segmental arches. It is quite narrow for modern traffic and has no footways but despite local pressure there are no plans to replace it.
