Dick, Kerr were closely involved with the works at Preston at this time and also owned the cable tram system in Edinburgh until 1919.

209 was converted to an electric car following the conversion of the cable tram system to electric traction, but after being a bogie cable tram it was fitted with a four-wheel electric truck.
