Of interest in the background is a "bus that never was". Manchester 1326 was to be a Daimler COG5 with English Electric body and the photograph shows that the body was finished, painted and lettered. However, delivery of the chassis was interrupted by bombing and it is just the body in store. It is registered GNA 474 but that registration lapsed and it was re-allocated GNB 110. This was never used and instead used for 1276, the last of the Crossley-bodied Daimler COG5s for Manchester to be delivered. The body seen finally ended up supplied to Birmingham and was fitted to a Leyland chassis.
